Kaleidoscope Quilt

  • Linen, naturally dyed with Madder, Tesu, Osage Orange, Black Tea, Acorns,Pomegranate. The binding is also linen and the back is cotton dyed with Himalayan rhubarb.

    Hand quilted with thick ivory sashiko thread. Cotton batting.

  • This half-cabin quilt is composed of 6x4 blocks. The long sides of the quilt have several stripes.

    Stitched with thick ivory Sashiko style thread by hand.

  • This quilt was pieced with a machine and hand quilted. The linen was hand dyed by the artist.

    This was hand quilted with thick Sashiko style thread.

    The binding is machine stitched on the front and hand tacked on the back to hide the stitches with mitered corners.

    The back is naturally dyed cotton constructed out of fabric remnants.

This yellow housetop quilt is composed of 24 half-cabin blocks in a 6x4 layout with several stripes for lengthen each side.

This quilt was inspired by an image of a Kaleidoscope but like all the housetop quilts, they come from this innovation on log cabin block from the quilters in Gees Bend.

This quilt is dyed with a variety of yellow natural dyes including: osage orange, tesu, and pomegranate. The pinks are from madder and lac. The ivories are a mix of black tea, coffee, and acorn.

This quilt is 100% linen on the front and 100% cotton on the back with cotton batting. The quilt is hand stitched with sashiko style cotton thread.
